About Dali
Dali—Bai Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan, is a city of long history and brilliant culture. During Tang and Song Dynasty, it was right here that Nanzhao State and Dali State were established, thus, it was given the title “Historic City”. Today’s Dali prefecture is a place of magnificient mountains, beautiful sceneries, pleasant climate and honest people.
Dali is one of the 24 Historical and Cultural Cities of China first proclaimed by State Council, and one of the nation’s 44 famous sceneries. Canshan Mountain and Erhai Lake is authorized by State Council as National Nature Reserves. This three laurels enable Dali to enjoy a great reputation all aroud the world.
Dali lies in the central part of Yunnan Province by west. Its longtitude (E) is between 98°52′~101°03, and latitude (N) between 24°41′~26°42. It is next to Chuxiong State in the east, leans against Simao and Lincang area in the south, joins with Baoshan area and Nujiang state in the east, and connects with Lijiang in the north. The capital of this autonomous prefecture is located in Xiaguan, 338km from Kunming. Its total area is 29459 k㎡, among which mountain area takes 83.7%, and dam area 16.3%. The longest distance from east to west is more than 320km, and 270km from north to south.
